Massage Modalities-Therapies

I offer advanced, medicinal, myofascial massage-bodywork Rehabilitation Services and Therapies with the intention of relieving chronic pain and improving body posture/alignment.  Myofascial massage is the manipulation of body muscles and tissues to alleviate pain, discomfort, and stress.  Myofascial massage is therapeutic massage with the focus of touching to heal specific ailments/injuries/specific areas of the body and preventing re-occurrence in the future.

Typically my sessions are typically 2 hours (time includes intake, dressing, and payment) depending on the needs of the client and intention of the session, unless there are special requests for shorter or longer durations.

I design sessions with the best massage-bodywork treatment to fit the client’s requests.  I take great care and special attention to clients’ needs to see that they are cared for, safe, and comfortable.  Below is a list of the primary massage modalities-therapies I use in healing sessions:

Structural Energetic Therapy® is developed by Don McCann and is the only therapy that releases the spiral twist in the body (called “core distortion”) back into weight-bearing support relieving the stresses on joints, spine, and discs that lead to pain and dysfunction.  Clients receive specialized cranial/structural and myofascial (muscles and connective tissue) protocols to release myofascial holding patterns that maintain the distortions.  Typically sessions are up to 2 hours in duration.  Clients receive treatments in their undergarments.  I use draping as necessary.  On Don’s website, he explains what SET is

I use Avazzia’s Pro-Sport 3 device. It offers the best of Avazzia’s Bio-Electric Stimulation Technology (BEST®) with Reaction Technology™. This device helps with symptomatic relief and management of chronic, intractable pain, and adjunctive treatment in the management of post-surgical and post-traumatic pain. Typically sessions are 1 – 1.5 hours in duration or I will blend using Avazzia in other sessions.  Also, I specifically use Avazzia for Scar Tissue Massage sessions. Typically sessions are 1 hour in duration.

Rossiter Stretching is developed by Richard Rossiter.  These techniques use deep pressure (my body weight) on contracted muscles, while the client performs small and sometimes big muscle movements in unique “locked” positions to optimally STRETCH the connective tissue/fascia.  Sessions are very intense and are focused on specific areas of pain in the body.  These sessions are sometimes called Rossiter Workouts.  Many times these techniques are used in my other treatment sessions.  Clients remain clothed and generally are on a floor mat.  Typically sessions are up to 1 – 1.5 hours in duration.  When clients are familiar with and understand how to do these techniques properly (form definitely counts!), we can do these sessions in less time with the same benefits.

Traditional Thailand (Thai) Massage (for both body and feet) combines point pressure work with a variety of stretching movements applied slowly in gentle rocking patterns and rhythmic compressions.  This experience is like having yoga done to you!  Clients remain clothed on a floor mat, occasionally I do some Thai massage techniques on the massage table.  Typically sessions are up to 1.5 – 2 hours in duration.

With the exception of the Traditional Thai Massage and the Rossiter System “Workouts” (both modalities are mostly on the floor mat/pad, fully clothed), massage work will be done mostly on a massage table, chair, or bench.  If sessions required the client to be unclothed, proper draping techniques will be used while clients undress to their level of comfort.  Only the area to be addressed is exposed. Genitals are covered at all times.

Access Consciousness® was founded by Gary Douglas and Dr. Dain Heer.  Access Consciousness® is the home of Access Bars® and emphasizes pragmatic tools (body process and living in question) to change things in your life that you haven’t been able to change, until now. Its primary tool is the Access Bars®, a (non-invasive) set of 32 points on your head that, when lightly touched, stimulate positive change in the brain and defragment the electromagnetic components of stress, thoughts, and emotions.  Typically sessions are 1 hour in duration.

As a Certified Personal Trainer, I offer (non-evasive) sessions to help clients improve their overall physical health and well-being with a rehabilitation plan that includes correctional and performance-enhancing exercise programs.  Exercises are recommended after your body is out of pain, and you feel you can carry on with a normal day of daily activities.  Typically sessions are 1 hour in duration.

Discontinued Modalities-Therapies

** I do not offer specific sessions for Structural Integration.  Structural Energetic Therapy®  has replaced Structural Integration.  It is a more rehabilitative therapy that includes cranial/structural releases, muscle testing for more permanent, longer-lasting changes, and focused myofascial protocols. **

Structural Integration (aka Rolfing®) is developed by Ida Rolf and is a system of soft tissue manipulation and movement education that organizes the whole body in gravity, by affecting the body’s posture and structure by manipulating the myofascial (connective tissue) system.  The process usually consists of 10 sessions, based on protocols that sequentially work through the body to optimally align it in gravity and balance the dynamic relationship between the torso and the head, girdles, and limbs.   Oils or lotions are sometimes used.  Clients may remain clothed or unclothed (usually shorts/bra or 2-piece swimsuit) to their level of comfort.  In each of the sessions, the connective tissue is released, realigned, and balanced throughout the whole body.  Normally, clients experience Structural Integration through a series of sessions, usually 10 sessions, but can be more depending on what is going on in their bodies.  This system of massage-bodywork enhances your posture and freedom of movement along with improving your emotional perspective, too.  Typically sessions are up to 1.5 hours in duration.

I do not offer Circulatory/Swedish Massage sessions.  For these types of sessions, I offer Traditional Thai Massage instead.

I do not offer specific sessions of Neuro-Muscular Therapy (NMT, aka Trigger Point Therapy).  I incorporate these modalities into the bodywork services I provide (see above).

I do not offer specific sessions of (non-invasive) Healing Touch/Quantum Touch. For these types of sessions, I offer Access Consciousness® Bars® instead.
