Health-Massage-Bodywork Tips

You are responsible for you.  Only you can take care of you.
You know yourself better than you.  You can heal yourself.

Everything that happens in life we create.  If you think about it, you know that is true.  Whether good or bad, we create it.  The best part is if we don’t like it, we can change it, too.

Last week I attended a class, Mind over Medal, a Knife-Spoon Bending Workshop.  It advertised that we would learn how to access our creativity and intuition by getting to the 90% of our brain we don’t use.  To me, it was about using our minds to do what we really want to do by setting our desired intention and aligning our body, mind, and spirit to that desire.

We had 4 opportunities to bend our utensils. While using a little more than normal strength to bend the knife or spoon (whatever you had in your hand at the time), we

1) For about a minute we were quiet and set our intention to bend the utensil in our hand, and then commenced yelling at “it” to bend.

2) For about a minute, we reminisced about the most favorite memory, then “commanded it” to bend.

3) Laughed genuinely for about a minute, then “commanded it” to bend while laughing.

4) Listened to “fun” music and danced for about a minute, then commanded “it” to bend while dancing.

Well, my results were not impressive.  I used 2 different forks in 3 exercise rounds.  The spoon along with laughter was the charm for me – melted like butter.  I got to thinking about this though.  Here were my thoughts relating to the exercises above:

1) Who yells at utensils to bend?  Are you kidding me?

2) I can’t think of a favorite memory right now.  Too many of them to choose from.  Are you kidding me?

3) Finally something that makes sense and is easy.  I love to laugh.  This reminds me Laughter Yoga.

4) She can dance to this song (the first one that played)?!  Who really dances to these songs (the second song)?!  Are you kidding me?

I again realized what I think is who I am, what I can do, be, and more.  Therefore, only you can make “it” happen in your life, whatever it is – not your family, friends, doctors, pets, enemies, etc. – you have to believe in you!  This relates to EVERYTHING in your life!

From a health perspective, Louise Hay said, “If we are willing to do the mental work, almost anything can be healed.”

Whatever you are working through, there is a body-mind-spirit component to it.  Think about it – it’s slowly (finally) coming to light that drugs and surgeries are not curing people of their illnesses.  So what’s left over:  1) The stuff that people don’t have time for and 2) the stuff people don’t want to deal with.

Maybe you can cure yourself?  Probably.  Maybe the cure is already available?  I think so.  Where to start?

1) Work on something that bothers you the most.  Or work on something that would bring you the most joy back into your life.

2) Journal about the positive and negative emotions/physical conditions of your body related to this step you are taking.

3) Find someone who will support you all the way in this journey.

4) Find resources that help answer your questions and give you new ideas to explore in your journey, like the references below.

5) Track your progress by taking measurements (weight, body measurements, blood tests, etc.); how do you feel today, a week from now, 2 weeks, etc.

There is so much you can do for you!  You can make a positive difference now!

You are responsible for you.  Only you can take care of you.
You know yourself better than you.  You can heal yourself.

About What I Do

Do you identify yourself by the discomfort you are feeling lately?

Are you dependent on pain medications or considering splints and other supportive devices (like canes, shoe inserts, etc.), shots (like cortisone, steroids, etc.), and surgery to alleviate pain?

Are you tired of chronic pain, tingling, numbness, always getting injured, experiencing stress fractures, and lack of strength anywhere in your body?

Do you want improved movement, better range of motion, and restful sleep?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, I can help you with the connective tissue massage-bodywork therapies I use during sessions.

My website is very informative, so please visit to learn more about my services, session prices, and my schedule along with massage-bodywork benefits and tips for before, during, and after your sessions.

I would like to partner with other health practitioners (orthopedic surgeons, dentists, naturopathic doctors, chiropractors, psychological counselors, athletic and life coaches, acupuncturists, movement instructors/practitioners), health facilities (gyms, exercise studios (karate, yoga, dance)), and small businesses in the city of San Diego.  My sessions with clients do complement these services to bring about more health and well-being to people.  If you have any recommendations, please connect us by sending them my e-newsletters and contact information, OR I would be happy to contact them directly!

I can provide demonstrations and classes about health and massage-bodywork to businesses and their employees.  Review My Calendar for the talks and health/wellness events I’ve completed in the past in the San Diego community.

If you have any questions about my services and would like to set up an appointment, please, call or email me.  I look forward to working with you at your next appointment!
